Join us for a conversation with Sammie Byron and Christy Burgess about their work with Shakespeare performance in youth communities.

Othello's Tribunal is a 45-minute solo show in which returned citizen Sammie Byron explores his turbulent and transformative journey through playing the title role in Shakespeare Behind Bars’s 1999 production of Othello at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in La Grange, Kentucky.

Christy Burgess is program director for the Shakespeare Outreach Initiative at the University of Notre Dame’s Robinson Community Learning Center (RCLC).

All faculty, students, and general public welcome, especially those interested in the public humanities and leveraging the expressive arts and literature in community-engaged programming.

Sponsored by the Department of English, The Hightower Fund, CMBC, Disability Studies Initiative, Center for Ethics, Oxford Arts, Oxford Humanities Division, and Shakespeare at Notre Dame
