The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is excited to return to live, in-person performances, with a new Professional Company staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by award-winning writer, director, and dramaturg Tlaloc Rivas, co-founder of the Latinx Theatre Commons.
A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed August 12-29, 2021, in a socially distanced outdoor performance on the Irish Green, outside of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. Mandated health & safety protocols will be observed for the duration of the Festival.

Director Tlaloc Rivas (pictured) is an award-winning writer, director and co-founder of the Latinx Theatre Commons. A 2018-19 Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama, with over twenty-five years of experience in civic engagement, social activism, theatrical training and instruction, Rivas looks forward to bringing a fresh, inclusive, and energetic sensibility to one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies.
Lost in an enchanted wood, two young couples fall madly in and out of love, while fairies watch their every move and a knockabout acting troupe prepares for an all-important performance before royalty. One of Shakespeare’s most popular and accessible works, A Midsummer Night’s Dream promises to be a charming and vibrant evening of theatre, brought to life on the lush Irish Green.
