Power, betrayal, and forgiveness: Shakespeare’s classic The Tempest touches on timeless themes in one his last (and most beloved) works. Blending romantic machinations, political scheming, and more than a little bit of magic, Shakespeare brings to life vivid characters and powerful imagery in a tale whose themes continue to resonate with audiences everywhere.
The Tempest is brought to life by Actors From The London Stage, the renowned 5-actor touring group founded in 1975 by Dr. Homer “Murph” Swander and Sir Patrick Stewart, along with many other celebrated actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company. This remarkable company has called Shakespeare at Notre Dame its artistic home since 2000, and celebrates its extraordinary 50th anniversary throughout 2025. The company travels to multiple colleges and universities nationwide twice annually, bringing our trademark approaches to both the stage and the classroom with a custom-tailored weeklong residency that engages disciplines across the academy. Each member of this self-directed ensemble portrays multiple roles while favoring minimal props and costumes, creating a theatrical experience like no other.
