2017 - Community Company

Community Company

Collected Scenes from and inspired by the works of William Shakespeare
Coordinated by Christy Burgess
Friday, July 14 and Saturday July 15, 2017

Over the course of one weekend, actors of all ages from throughout the community take to the stage with their own unique spins on some of Shakespeare’s most beloved works.

Shakespeare After Hours
(New for 2017!)

Enjoy Shakespeare at his bawdy, boozy, bloody best. Local civic theatres and dance companies present scenes intended for a mature audience. Raise a glass (literally) as we toast the Bard's scandalous side.

Friday, July 14 at 9:00pm
LangLab | 1302 High St, South Bend

Ten 10-minute scenes performed by young actors from throughout Michiana. Family-friendly takes on Shakespeare's greatest hits.

  • Participants in ShakeScenes will enjoy free pre-show workshops as well as post-show pizza followed by a special performance of the NDSF Touring Company's 2017 production of Twelfth Night.

Join the Shakespearean shenanigans!

The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival works hard to ensure your theatre experience is exceptional from start to finish. We understand that experience begins from the moment you arrive on campus. We’ve secured access to the two parking lots located closest to Washington Hall, the ShakeScenes performance venue.

To reach these lots, you must pass through one of two Gatehouses (shown on the map to the right): the North Gatehouse on the Northeast side of campus via Douglas Road or the South Gatehouse on the campus’s Southern edge via Angela Blvd. Guards at both Gatehouses will grant access to all ShakeScenes guests.

Once through the Gatehouse, proceed on Holy Cross Drive (shown as a red line on the map) to the lot marked A9 or A15. Each lot is only 250 yards from Washington Hall.

As you walk to the theatre, keep your eye on the Golden Dome; Washington Hall is its neighbor to the east. The entrance to Washington Hall is on the south side of the building.

(Note: ShakeScenes performances are free but require a ticket. To guarantee your reservation, please pick-up your will call tickets at Washington Hall at least 15 minutes before your performance. In the event of a sell out, unclaimed will call tickets will be used to seat patrons on the waiting list.)
