Be a part of the magic.
Join us for the 2018 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival auditions!

Auditions and interviews for the 2018 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival (NDSF) will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 9:00am - 8:00pm.

The NDSF seeks undergraduate/graduate students and regional area designers, technicians, and actors. Paid positions are available at both the professional and apprentice levels.

Send an email to NDSFAuditions@nd.edu, and request morning, afternoon or early evening. Please include the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your resume
  • Your headshot (if available)
  • Your school's name
  • Your year
  • Your email address
  • Are you interested in tech, acting, or both?
  • Include any special skills or talents for consideration, such as musical ability.

Those selected for an interview will be asked to discuss your experience and (not required) present a portfolio. DO: send a resume with your email. DO NOT: spend long hours updating it.

Actors will be asked to perform one (1) classical monologue, under 2 minutes ideally from Shakespeare or another early modern playwright. It should be a piece you know very well, as you may be given an adjustment and to play with the speech. Actors who play musical instruments with high levels of proficiency and strong singers should prepare 16-32 bars. No accompanist provided.

Apprenticeships last nine (9) weeks and are paid. Apprentice actors receive three weeks of training in voice, text, and movement. Apprentice designers, stage managers, and technicians receive on-the- job training and may participate in master classes.

The NDSF family includes Broadway directors, Tony Award-winning designers, and world-class actors from the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Guthrie Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Old Globe, the Public Theater, Canada’s Stratford Festival, and many others from New York to Los Angeles.

Which company will I be a part of?

Apprentice technicians will be a part of both the Touring and Professional Companies. Apprentice actors may be cast in the Touring Company production of The Merchant of Venice, the Professional Company production of Othello or, for most participants, both.
