Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival: 2018 Season Revealed!

The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is thrilled to announce its exciting 2018 season titles. The Professional Company will present a bold new staging of Othello, directed by Cameron Knight and starring Esau Pritchett, from August 14-26. The Touring Company will present The Merchant of Venice, directed by Jemma Alix Levy, which will be staged in various locations throughout Michiana during July and August 2018. Also, look forward to the return of popular favorites ShakeScenes and Shakespeare in the Streets!

    Special Pre-release Screening: Macbeth

"Our film is not a response," co-writer/Shakespeare advisor Judith Buchanan noted to audiences prior to Notre Dame's exclusive pre-release screening of Kit Monkman's Macbeth. "It's a quirky, experimental intervention." Audiences at the Browning Cinema were the first in the United States to experience the film, slated for European release in spring 2018. Shot entirely against green screens, Macbeth offers a dynamic new interpretation of the famed tragedy by staging the action entirely within a claustrophobic yet strangely incomplete world, drawing the focus more strongly to the characters' internal strife. Keep checking back for more information on this arresting new film adaptation.
