GETTING HERE:

The University of Notre Dame is located directly north of the city of South Bend, Indiana. We are approximately 90 miles east of downtown Chicago and 255 miles west of Cleveland via Interstate 80/90 (Indiana Toll Road, Exit 77), and 140 miles north of Indianapolis via US31.

Due to our location near Lake Michigan, our winter weather can be very unpredicatable! Our average January temperature is 31 degrees, but can vary anywhere between +50 to -10.  We also are subject to the "lake effect" which brings nearly twice the amount of snowfall as our neighbors to even 50 miles to the west.

Our advice is to make sure that you check the local weather forecast before arriving--especially if you plan to drive in from one of the Chicago airports (approximately 2 to 2.5 hours in ideal conditions).

A great online resource for local weather conditions is the website of our local NBC affiliate, WNDU: wndu.com/weather
